I visited the TATHAM site at Lake McKenzie Way S.E Calgary in 2022 after receiving a call that water was running down the drywall below a north facing window during a rain storm. The casing on the room side was removed.. Jeff T. was outside starting a water test and at that time you and Rini were on site as well. The water did not infiltrate into the R.O. itself so to speak as it leaked from above the R.O. and found its way between the drywall and the studs around the R.O. This water from up above came in on the room side of the wall behind the exterior stucco’s waterproofing and behind the Fortress System There was no failure of the materials used to waterproof the rough opening or waterproofing materials over top of the nail fins outside. There was no failure of the Fortress System installed.

Pella Western Canada has used the Fortress system for over 3 years to protect our clients on both commercial and residential installations where the customer chose to use this system to protect their investment in replacement windows and patio doors. We have never experienced a water ingress failure using the Fortress System. We are entering a phase where this is going to become standard specification on every commercial and eventually every residential installation we do. We just wanted to let folks at Fortress know how pleased we have been with the window and door installation system they have provided us on the last five multi-family projects we have constructed in Virginia, it is now our specified product for all our future window and door installations. The dams provided have been very easy to install. The Virginia Housing Department Association (VHDA) has certain criteria on the way windows and doors need to be installed in the State of Virginia. Once we starting using the Fortress System the VHDA quickly identified and commented on the quality, speed and efficiency of the Fortress System being used. We would highly recommend all builders installing windows and doors to use the Fortress System to increase installation speed and eliminate water leaks that occur from a window or door installation.
